It’s not that uncommon of a situation. You start hooking up with a woman and possibly even carrying on a casual relationship with her. Eventually, you start to develop feelings for her, and before you know it, you’ve fallen head over heels for someone you were supposed to keep things casual with. This may seem like the end of the world, but it doesn’t have to be. There are certain things you will want to do if you think you may be falling for your hookup partner, and even if you don’t think this will ever happen to you, you’re going to want to learn. It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially in scenarios like this. Here’s what you need to know in the event that you do happen to develop feelings for someone you meet on a casual dating site:
Decide if She Reciprocates or Not
One of the first things you need to do if you think you may be falling for your hookup is to determine if she feels the same way about you. Obviously, it’s not something either of you really planned for. You were on a casual dating site for a reason, and that reason was not to have a serious relationship. It was likely just to hook up. These things happen, though. You may want to discuss these things with her personally so you know how she feels about it. If she feels the same way, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t pursue a relationship with her. Stranger things have happened, for certain, so there’s really no reason to stay away from forming a relationship with someone you were hooking up with!
Move on before You Get Your Heart Broken
Sometimes you just don’t want to pursue things with a woman you were hooking up with even if you’ve developed feelings for her. You may think it will end in disaster. If this is your mentality, you’re going to want to move on before you wind up getting your heart broken. It may hurt, but you can always find someone else to hook up with. Just get back to the drawing board and break things off with your current hookup partner. She should be able to understand why you’re moving on and finding someone else to spend your time with.
Try to Distance Yourself
If you still want to hook up with her but you don’t want to remain in a relationship, you may just want to distance yourself from her for a while. This means that you’re just going to need to stop spending so much time with her. Yes, it will take a bit more time to get over her if you’re still spending time with her, but you should be able to get over it eventually. She might be the best lay you’ve ever had, so it might not be worth ruining your chances with her just because you developed feelings for her. Keep this in mind when making a decision.
